Abstract

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a unique and enduring bilateral relationship shaped by overlapping historical, religious, economic, and strategic ties. This partnership, deeply rooted in shared Islamic values and mutual geopolitical interests, has evolved significantly over the decades. Since Pakistan's independence in 1947, Saudi Arabia has provided vital economic, political, and military support, affirming its role as a key ally in Pakistan’s regional and international strategy. The relationship is characterized by military cooperation, economic assistance, and a shared commitment to regional stability. Despite challenges, such as Pakistan's neutrality in the Saudi-Iran rivalry and Saudi Arabia's growing engagement with India, the partnership has adapted to shifting global and regional dynamics. The 21st century marks a transformative phase, with economic collaboration amplified by Saudi Vision 2030, which creates new opportunities in energy, infrastructure, and human resource development. Through an analysis grounded in international relations theories such as realism, constructivism, and liberal institutionalism, this study explores the evolution of Pak-Saudi relations, addressing the complexities and prospects of this alliance in the modern geopolitical landscape. While historical ties and economic interdependence remain pivotal, the relationship's sustainability hinges on addressing emerging challenges and leveraging opportunities for deeper integration and mutual benefit.
